Howard Elvin Paul, 85, of Morganton, NC died Saturday, December 13, 2014. Born April 26, 1929 in Essex County, NJ, he was the son of the late Howard Elvin Paul, Sr. and Elizabeth Rodger Zukowski. Howard was a member and Elder of Quaker Meadows Presbyterian Church. He had been a Mason for 63 years, and was an avid runner.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elly Holmes Paul of the home; sons, Mark Paul and wife, Tina of Morganton, and Michael Sharinus and partner, Chip Kroon of Fletcher, NC; grandchildren, Brittany Van Blarcom and husband, Ryan, Christina Kosiorek and husband, David, Brooks Morgan, Mark Paul, Jr., Brandon Hall, and Bryan Hall.
In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Paul Morgan; and a sister, Margaret Boice.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Quaker Meadows Presbyterian Church with Rev. Yvonne M. Thurmond officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Quaker Meadows Presbyterian Church, 2698 NC Hwy 181, Morganton, NC 28655, or to the Salvation Army, PO Box 1167, Hickory, NC 28603.
