Howard Doerle, 95, born in Terra Haute, IN to the late Pearl and Harry Doerle. Having lived in Ohio for 40 plus years, life brought him to Morganton, NC with his wife, Maggie. Although for 25 years, he was a Nazarene Minister, his real passion was helping people work through their pain in therapy. In Morganton, he found his niche at The Life Enrichment Center where he eventually became the Director. In 1998, Howard and his wife, Maggie ventured out to open their own counseling practice, Carpe Diem. For 20 years, until retirement at 88 years of age, he and Maggie labored and loved helping those seeking to find their way. Howard loved Morganton, he loved his clients, he loved his Kiwanis friends as well as all his friends and family.
Howard leaves behind his wife, Maggie of 44 years; four adult children, Melodie, Kim, Kevin, Matt; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces; all whom he loved with his whole heart.
Howard’s favorite song was “What A Wonderful World” and he truly believed it was wonderful.
There are no funeral services being planned. Eventually, there will be a gathering of family and friends in his honor to remember him and his remarkable life.
In the meantime, Howard would say, “Seize the Day!” (Carpe Diem).
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
