Horatio Bristol III

Horatio Bristol III, 64, of Morganton died Monday, April 23, 2018.  Born in Burke County, NC on December 19, 1953, he was the son of the late Horatio Bristol, Jr. and Hazel Sherry Surratt Bristol.  He was veteran of the U.S. Army and was an active member of New Hope in Christ Baptist Church.  He was a prison ministry volunteer and enjoyed fishing and family cookouts.

Mr. Bristol is survived by his children, Brian Bristol and wife, Anya Lainas, of Laredo, TX, Tyra Bristol of Morganton, John Williams of Raleigh, NC, and Stephanie Genwright of Hickory, NC; 8 grandchildren, Jalian Dula, Darius Bristol, Kelvis Dula Jr., Noah Carpenter, Kris Dula, Jordyn Brookins, Kylie Marie Williams, and Jase Christopher Williams; sisters, Sandra K. Bristol of Los Angeles, CA, Becky Davis of Morganton, and Sherry Bristol McLaurin of Morganton; and brothers, Pastor Max Bristol of Morganton, Johnny Bristol of Morganton, James Bristol of Pooler, GA, and Herbert Bristol of Morganton.

In addition to his parents, Horatio was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mammie Coffey and Mary Surratt.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at New Hope in Christ Baptist Church.  The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the church with Pastor Max Bristol officiating.  Military honors provided by the NC National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.  The graveside service will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
