Horace Leon Lowman, 78, of Nebo, NC, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025.
Born in Burke County, NC on December 24, 1946, he was the son of the late George Fonzo Lowman and Mary Josephine Stilwell Lowman.
Horace worked at Henredon Furniture for over 20 years. He loved and was loved by everyone, and he will be greatly missed.
Mr. Lowman is survived by his sister, Frances Lingerfelt; brother, Finley Vertis Lowman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Horace was preceded in death by his foster parents, Doc and Ruth Wiseman; brother, James Lowman; and sister, Margie Grey.
No services are planned for Mr. Lowman.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I was Horaces caregiver for about 10 yrs he was a gentle giant , we all will miss him greatly
I had lost contact with Horace but he was so good to me as a child. Him being raised by my grandparents made him as close as an uncle to me. When we walked to church, he would ride me piggyback. One of the strongest men I ever knew. He loved Grandma Wiseman and was so good to her. He loved going to church and now is at perfect peace in that land where we’ll never grow old.
