Hope Williams Franklin, 86, passed peacefully on March 11, 2014 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James (Jim) E. Franklin. Surviving are her two daughters, Carolyn Franklin Hilderbrand and her husband, Reed, and Elaine Franklin all of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Amy of Montera, CA, Kristin of Atlanta, GA, and Brian of Charlotte; and one great-grandson, Landon Beardsley of Montera, CA.Hope loved and cherished her family and friends and was devoted to God and her church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing Canasta and Rook, chatting with friends on the phone, having lunch with her Morganton High School Alumni group, and participating in classes and events through the Burke Senior Center and the Lift group. Hope was an active member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church and was involved with many activities including Women’s Circle, visiting the sick, and serving as Sunday School class treasurer for many years.A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. David Lawrence officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
