Homer I. Cline, 77, of Oakwood Street, Morganton, NC, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at his residence. Born in Burke County, NC, on February 10, 1929, he was the son of the late Ernest Cline and Blanch Garrison Cline. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Miller Cline; a brother, Frank Cline, and two step-granddaughters, Grayson and Katelyn Vann. Homer was a member of First Baptist Church of Morganton. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and a graduate of Drexel High School. Mr. Cline was employed by Retail Credit Co. and Stoney-Kistler Insurance Agency. He retired from Stoney-Kistler in 1994. Homer past president of the Drexel Fair Association and a member and past president of Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club. He was an avid golfer.

Mr. Cline is survived by his second wife, Betty P. McCurry of the home; two daughters, Kimberly Cline and husband Peter Fishbein of Garden City, NY, and Mitzi Cline Lynch and husband, Craig, of Charlotte, NC; three step-daughters, Kristen McCurry Vann and husband, Mitch, of Siler City, NC, Kelli McCurry Haughey and husband, B.J., of Charlotte, and Courtney McCurry Allen and husband, Ryan, of Savannah, GA; five grandchildren, Ashley, Morgan, P.J., Devin and Ryan; five step-grandchildren, Karsyn, Mac, Sarah, Molly, and Kendall; and a sister, Orelia Drummond of TN.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2006 at First Baptist Church with the Reverends Dr. Thomas Bland, Bill Rotan, Dr. Bob Shepherd, and Fred Schuszler officiating. A family graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Drawer 459, Morganton, NC 28680 or to Burke Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
