Hobert Lee Burleson

Hobert Lee Burleson, 84, of Morganton, NC died Saturday, October 4, 2014.  Born in Avery County, NC on April 4, 1930, he was the son of the late Robey Burleson and Mary Ledford Burleson.  Hobert was a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church.  He loved traveling to the mountains, was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed camping.  He loved raising chickens and other farm animals.

Mr. Burleson is survived by his children, Renda Burleson Wilson and her husband, Bill, Kathy Burleson Webb, David Burleson and his wife, Marie, and John “J.D.” Burleson and his wife, Lisa, all of Morganton; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Hattie Holder of Coretta, WV.

In addition to his parents, Hobert was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice Hefner Burleson; his second wife, Annie Mae Burleson; a step-daughter, Elizabeth McCurry Sain; and a brother, Edward Allen Burleson.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Community Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverends Tony Land, Lloyd Harris, Brian Wilson, and Michael Webb officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.  At other times the family will be at the residence of the daughter, Renda Wilson on Garland Johnson Road, Morganton.
