Herman Alfred Abee

Herman Alfred Abee, 80, of Fashion Ave. in Connelly Springs, NC died Monday, December 28, 2009 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born January 24, 1929 in Burke County, NC, and was a son of the late Gordon Alfred Abee and Minnie Etta Martin Abee. Herman was an active member of Bollinger’s Chapel United Methodist Church until his health began to fail. He had served on the church Administrative Board, and had also served as the church Secretary and Treasurer for over 20 years.Herman is survived by his wife, Betty Whisnant Abee of the home; a daughter, Teresa Dawn Abee of Aiken, SC; a brother, Clifford Abee and his wife, Jean of Morganton; a sister-in-law, Kay Abee of Conover, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by brothers, J. P. and Harold Abee; and a sister, Juanita Herman.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour before the service.
