Helen Leonard, 86, of Fox St., died peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. She was born August 11, 1920 in Catawba County to the late Murphy Simpson and Lucy Reinhart Simpson. She stayed home during her early years to raise her family who she deeply loved. Later she went to work with her husband at Steele Rulane.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her husband, of 68 years, Stewart Leonard, 6 children; Mike Leonard and wife Nancy, David Leonard and wife Betsy, Debbie Tolbert, Mark Leonard and wife Vikki, Greg Leonard and wife Gina and Scott Leonard and wife Holly all of Morganton, one sister Bette Caldwell of Hickory, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A graveside service for Mrs. Leonard will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Bethel United Church of Christ Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Shepard officiating. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday evening at Sossoman Funeral Home.
