Helen Gurley Perkins, 86, of Huntersville, NC died Saturday, August 6, 2016. Born in Burke County, NC on May 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Perry Gurley and Lillian Drum Gurley. Helen was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church where she loved to listen to the preaching.
Mrs. Perkins is survived by her children, Allen Perkins and his wife, Linda, of Morganton and Karen Demers and her husband, Norm, of Charlotte, NC; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Perkins, Jr.; a brother, Bryant Gurley; and sisters, Irene Perkins, Jean Bilskey and Katherine Clayton.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at North Morganton Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Baker and the Rev. Bob Deviney officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
At other times the family will be at 839 Vine Arden Road in Morganton.
