Helen Edmonson, 62, of Morganton passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018.  Born in Burke County on April 18, 1955, she was the daughter of the William and Delia Caldwell.  Helen was a member of St. James Holiness Church of God where she served on the Usher Board and Missionary Board.

Helen leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Carlton Edmonson; parents, William and Delia Caldwell of Morganton; son, Carlton Edmonson Jr. and wife, Tracee, of Morganton; daughter, Naikita Corpening of Morganton; sister, Anita “Pam” Brigman (Curtis) of Durham; grandchildren, Shakidra Wilkins, Ashanti Surratt, Jabari Corpening, Cameron Edmonson, Taylor Edmonson, DeAndre Carpenter and Noah Carpenter; great granddaughter, JaZiyah Bennett; sisters-in-law, Jackie Turner, Virginia Edmonson and Melissa Edmonson; uncles, James Corpening (Eloise) and Hugh Corpening (Lula); aunt, Annie Bell Corpening; and a hosts of nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by grandparents Roscoe and Delia Corpening; granddaughter, Alicea Surratt and brothers-in-law, Lennie and Larry Edmonson.

The family will receive family and friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Shiloh A.M.E. Church.  The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the church with Rev. T. Carpenter officiating.  Burial will follow at St. James Holiness Church of God Cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
