Helen Bernice Perry Sparks, 95, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
Born in Pocahontas County, WV on August 21, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William Dennis Perry and Nina Mae Brown Perry.
Helen was a devoted member of Bible Missionary Baptist Church for around 45 years. Known as the “French Fry Lady” at Wendy’s, Helen worked as a fry cook after retiring from Scorpio Knit. Her love for cooking was also shown every day to her family as she loved cooking meals for them, and especially during Christmas holidays when she would make cookies and candy for everyone to enjoy. Helen also enjoyed shopping, going out to eat, and was a Cowboy’s fan.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Stanley Perry (Debbie); daughter, Carolyn “Carol” Sparks Brown (Gary); 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great- grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and extended family and special friends.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Sparks; son Carl Sparks, Jr.; brother, Carl Perry; and sisters, Madaline “Tootsie” Perry McGalaughin and Mary Perry Owens.
A memorial service will be held at 2p.m., Friday, August 29, 2025, at Bible Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Ricky Watkins and Doug St. John officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I'm so sorry for your loss your family is in our prayers I also go to Bible Baptist she was such a sweet lady and she will be missed and loved but she sure is in a better place then we are she beat us to that beautiful heaven 🙏🏻 ❤️
