Hazel Swink Dellinger, 92, of Morganton, NC, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
Born in Burke County, NC on July 10, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William H. Swink and Annie Speagle Swink.
Hazel graduated from George Hildebran School in 1952. She worked for Shadowline and Highlander for some time and retired from Henredon Furniture after 20.5 years. Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, reading, coloring beautiful pictures, and cooking for her family, friends, neighbors, and church.
Hazel was a faithful member of High Peak Baptist Church for over 50 years. She dearly loved her family, friends, and church. She was also an avid Tarheel basketball fan.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Eddie Dellinger(Kathie) and Revonda Dellinger Stillwell (Terry); grandchildren, Jessica Kaiser (Roland), Haley Shuping (Jonathan), Cara Brown (Kevin), Cheyenne Dellinger, Neasie Turbyfill (Jeff), and Amber Cox (James); great-grandchildren, Lawson Shuping, Sawyer Shuping, Colter Brown, Connor Brown, Celia Dellinger, Nicole Donovan, David Brittain, Holly Cox, Gavin Cox, and Sarah Rapan; very special niece, Annette Robinson; sister-in-law, Shirley Swink; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert James Dellinger; son, Rickey Allen Dellinger and wife, Linda; grandson, Steve Dellinger; sisters, Mary Jane Cooper, Eva Carswell and Nellie Blackwelder; and brothers, Leroy Smith, John Swink, R.G. Swink, Calvin Swink, Bud Swink, and Alvin Swink.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, September 27, 2026 at High Peak Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Shane Ramsey and Dr. Kevin Purcell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to High Peak Baptist Church, 3073 High Peak Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
