Hazel Lowman Brittain, 77, of Connelly Springs, NC passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
Born in Burke County, NC on January 8, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Vance Leon Lowman and Mae Fannie Hildebran Lowman.
Hazel was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. She dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and she was the nicest woman you’d ever meet. She enjoyed being outside in her yard and reading.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Angela Cope (Stephen); step-children, Carla Brittain and Chris Brittain (Jessica); grandchildren, Keaton Sprinkle (Lindsey), Kerston Cope, Rachel Sprinkle, and Britsol Cope (Reece); great-grandchildren, Bryant Sprinkle, Ivy Stafford, Asher Stafford, River Stafford, and Cruze Cope; and sisters, Kay Abee and Kathy Lindsey.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Charles ‘Charlie” Brittain; infant-daughter, Marsha; step-daughter, Sandra Sprinkle; sister, Judy Cook; and brother, Gary Lowman.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Monday, April 13, 2026 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Eric James officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Oh my Dear Sweet Hazel! So sorry to learn of her passing! I thought the world of her & Charlie. They both always had a smile. Just talked to her a couple of weeks ago & can still see her sitting on church pew. I am truly going to miss Hazel but I'm sure that she is happy now & no more health problems! I do Love her & will miss her!!!
