Grady Leonard Goodman

Grady Leonard Goodman, 80, of Connelly Springs, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Born in Burke County, NC on November 3, 1945, he was the son of the late Hugh Goodman and Charlcie Goins.

Grady was a member of Walkers Chapel Baptist Church. He was a loving father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend. He enjoyed fishing, gardening (especially tending his blueberries), sitting on his porch, and being visited by friends and neighbors. Mr. Goodman loved going to church, loved visiting flea markets with his late wife, and was an avid outdoorsman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Davy Goodman (Tammy Pittman); daughter, Lori Goodman (Kyle Woodard); step-daughter, Kimberly Richards; grandchildren, Kendra Whaley (Kenneth Brown), Megan Whaley (Isaac Teague), James Whaley, III (Mariah Shell), Logan Childers, and Chezley Childers; great-grandchildren, Avery Trotter, Colton Brown, Brian White, Grace Teague, Miles Ray, and another on the way; sister-in-law, Sherry Goodman; canine companion, Lady; and numerous extended family members including Dean, Leola, and Rebecca Goodman.

In addition to his parents, Grady was preceded in death by his wife of over 30 years, Frances Juanita Cook Goodman; and four brothers, Arney, J.T., Merle, and Garfield Goodman.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Walkers Chapel Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Danny McNeilly officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
