Glen R. "Dick" Baker

Glen R. "Dick" Baker, Jr., 57, of Walter Taylor Avenue, Morganton, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC after a long battle with lupus. Born in Burke County, NC on January 23, 1952, he was the son of Glen Baker, Sr. and Kathleen Clay Baker, both of Morganton. He was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church. Dick was an employee of Sypris Technologies, formerly Dana Corporation for twenty-eight years.He is survived by his wife, Melba Willis Baker; a son, Joshua Glen Baker of Morganton; a daughter, Carla Baker Beck and husband, Daniel, of Morganton; a brother, Jeff Baker and wife, Mikki, of Morganton; a sister, Glenda B. Childers and husband, David, of Morganton; and grandchildren, Isaac Beck, Avram Beck, Abigail Beck, and Hayden Glen Baker, all of Morganton.He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. We look forward to a glorious reunion in Heaven.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2009 at El Bethel Baptist Church with Reverends Ron Cooper and David Bean officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home.
