Glen Edward Beaver, 82, of Morganton went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.  Born in Burke County, NC on June 7, 1936, he was the son of the late John Ellis Beaver and Annie Lee Palmer Beaver.  Glen was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing pool.

A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Glen is survived by his children, John Edward Beaver (Tammy), James Brian Beaver (Robin), and Lisa Beaver Moore (Michael); grandchildren, Justin Clay Beaver, Leslie Channing Gragg (Johnathon), Felicia Ann Moore, Michael Christopher Moore (Brittany), and Erin Leigh Nelson (Lee); step-grandchildren, Tiffany Poteat (Marcus) and Marcus Holland; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Ann Brown and Mason Christopher Moore; step-great-grandchildren, Emma and Gabrielle Poteat; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Brittain Beaver; son, Jeffrey Alan Beaver; sisters, Laverne P. Jenkins, Billie P. Bowman, and Mildred Palmer; and brother, Stanley Palmer.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2019 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Michael Gantt officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
