Gladys Propst Jaynes, 90, of Morganton, NC, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Morganton Long Term Care. Born March 1, 1917 in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Propst and Mary Cloud Propst. Gladys was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
Ms. Jaynes is survived by her son, Baxter John Jaynes and wife, Faye, of Morganton; grandsons, Jon Nathan Jaynes of Morganton and Van Baxter Jaynes and wife, Robyn, of Harrisburg, NC; great-grandchildren, Andrew Jaynes and Allyson Jaynes, both of Harrisburg, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2007 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Homer Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church Youth Center Building Fund, 1112 Hopewell Road, Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
