Gladys “Meme” Faulkner, 81, of Newland, NC passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021. Born in Sullivan County, TN on November 8, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Walter Wesley Harless and Lola Bell Rouse Harless. Gladys was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church. Along with her husband, she owned Universal Artist for a number of years.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Celina Faulkner Moses (Kevin); grandchildren, Devanshea, Madison Moseley (Jeremiah), Bryce Moses (Katie), and Greyson Moses; great-grandchildren, Charli, Asher, Selah, Rowen, Simon, and Salem; sister, Louise “Dootsie” Jones; and a number of nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Reece Faulkner; brothers, Claude and Jimmy Harless; and sister, Carolyn Cross.
A memorial service for Gladys will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vessels of Mercy or to Avery County Hospice.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
