Gladys M. Brewer, 96, of Roanoke, VA passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Born on Valentine’s Day in 1930, she was the daughter of the late Marion Maxwell Morris and Bertha Mayhue Pritchard Morris.
Gladys enjoyed fishing, hunting, and ballroom dancing. She also enjoyed trips to the beach and dearly loved her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Julie Hodges (David); grandchildren, Michelle Flowers (Steve), Tommy Duckworth (Heather), and Tanya Duckworth Cha (Blong); great-grandchildren, Aalyiah, Nevaeh, Kaylin, Nicole, Haven, and Alexus; great-great-grandchildren, Eleia and Beckett; and a sibling, Frances West.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Brewer; three children, Patricia Duckworth, Eugene Flowers, and Steve Brewer; and six siblings, Ethel, Earl, Esther, Edmond, Frank, and Edith.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m., in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Braden Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

My thoughts n prayers go out to her daughter and family Mrs Gladys was my brother Ralph's neighbor. Was always the sweetest lady and loved to see my grandson and liked us to visit her ..she will truly be missed but may she now RIP.

Aunt Glad will be missed. I loved her so much. I have great memories of her as a child. My kids were able to get to know her and they got to see what a great person she was. I will miss our Christmas parties together but I know I will see “The Big Boss” again. Praying for all who knew her.
