Gerald Edward Duckworth, age 76, of Morganton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on December 15, 2025, following a declining period of illness.
Gerald was born on February 4, 1949, in Morganton, NC, to the late Gerald Duckworth and Mozelle Duckworth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Brenda Kay Carter and Margaret Greer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kay Duckworth; his children, Jeff Duckworth (Allison), Robin Key, Michele Taylor (Ashley), and Kisah Isbell; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him great joy.
Gerald spent his life as a dedicated long-distance truck driver. He began his career with Frederickson and proudly concluded it upon his retirement from B&A Hyder Trucking. Known for his strong work ethic and commitment, Gerald took pride in providing for his family throughout his many years on the road.
In his free time, Gerald cherished making memories with Kay. Together they loved camping trips to the beach and Pigeon Forge, and when not traveling, they spent many summer weekends at Daniel Boone Campground with all their special friends. Gerald also enjoyed hosting neighborhood barbecues and visiting with friends at Morrison's Garage and Key's Used Cars, where laughter and stories were always shared.
Gerald will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal friend, and a man who valued hard work, friendship, and family. He will be deeply missed by\all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Salem United Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. in the church with Rev. Monica Childers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 1206 Salem Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
