George Thomas Tommy Turner

George Thomas Tommy Turner, 89, of Glen Alpine, NC, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025. Born in Caldwell County, NC on December 6, 1935, he was the son of the late Glenn Turner and Ethel Bentley Turner. Tommy was a member of Crosslink Church in Morganton. An inspiration to his family, he was a hard-worker who took pride in his work. He enjoyed fishing, working in his garden, and playing guitar. His guitar playing will forever live on in his grandchildren. Tommy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Leola Orders Turner; sons, Gregory Lynn Turner (Jocelyn) and Jeffrey Turner (Kim); grandchildren, Lance Turner, Daniel Turner (Haley), Devan Turner (Mary), Denise Turner, and Greycelyn Turner; brother, Paul Turner; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by five siblings, Bill Turner, Hazel Hallyburton, Maggie Turner, David Turner, and Sue Turner. The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2025 at Glen Alpine Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Reece officiating. The family would like to express their appreciation to Cardinal Hospice for the compassion shown to Tommy. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
