Gene “Mackie” Huffman, II

Gene “Mackie” Huffman, II, 54, of Morganton, NC passed away peacefully Thursday, August 11, 2016.  Born in Burke County, NC on June 8, 1962, he was the son of the late Gene Herbert Huffman and Frances Wellman Huffman.  Mackie was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and retired from Broughton Hospital as a Registered Nurse.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and especially camping with his family.

Mr. Huffman is survived by his wife, Janice Guy Huffman of the home; children, Dustin Lynn Huffman of Morganton, Whitney Huffman Kanupp and her husband, Lynn, of Connelly Springs, NC, and Logan Gene Mackie Huffman of Morganton; grandchildren, Mackenzie Huffman, Maverick Huffman, Maddox Huffman, and Baylee Kanupp; a brother, Mark Huffman and his wife, Linda, of Morganton; sisters, Jeanne Huffman Whisnant of Morganton and Pam Huffman Nowell and her husband, Mike, of Wilmington, NC; and his mother-in-law, Ann Guy of Connelly Springs.

In addition to his parents, Mackie was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gene Guy; and his brother-in-law, David Shook.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 4 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Walkers Chapel Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Eric James and the Rev. Keith Fulbright officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
