Gene D. Guffey

Gene D. Guffey, 86, of Morganton passed away Monday, April 8, 2019.  Born in Rutherford County, NC on September 22, 1932, he was the son of the late Ira Clarence Guffey and Daisy Wright Guffey.  Gene was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War and retired from Drexel Heritage.  He enjoyed radio and line-controlled model airplanes and loved to bass fish.

Gene is survived by his sons, Donald Guffey (Janice) of Fort Mill, SC and Tim Guffey (Pam Taylor) of Morganton; grandchildren, Alicia, Allison, Josh, Timothy, Spencer, and Paige Guffey; and 2 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Guffey.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home.
