Gary Ray Garner

Gary Ray Garner, 74 of Morganton, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Born on November 5, 1944, he was the son of the late Raymond Garner and Mary Harper Avery. Gary was a member of First Baptist Church of Morganton.

Gary was in the photography business most of his life, he loved his photography and captured memories for many families in the Burke County area. Gary also was an antique car lover and collector, and also loved spending time at Lake James.

Gary is survived by his wife of 48 years, Brenda M. Garner; son, Chris Garner and his wife, Rebecca; grandchildren, Hannah and Anabel Garner. Gary was an only child, but gained many brothers and sisters upon marrying Brenda, whose 10 siblings treated him like one of their own.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to noon, Friday, December 14, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at noon in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin Crawford and Rev. Dr. Thomas A. Bland Jr. officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Morganton or Praise Assembly Church of God.
