Fred “Freddie” McElrath

Fred “Freddie” McElrath, Jr, 59, of Morganton, NC went to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Born in Burke County, NC on February 7, 1955, he was the son of the late Fred McElrath and Addie Connelly McElrath. Freddie was a member and trustee of New Bethel Baptist Church. He operated McElrath Painting and was a previous employee of Bernhardt Furniture.

Freddie is survived by his wife of 25 years, Stephanie Kanipe McElrath of the home; children, Terrenda Taylor and her husband, Daryl, of Winterville, NC, Marcus Berry and his wife, Chantelle, of Jacksonville, NC, Domionta Robinson of Morganton, Natalie Kanipe of Morganton, Tiffany McElrath of Charlotte, NC, and Brittany McElrath of Morganton; ten grandchildren; ; brothers, Jeffrey McElrath and his wife, Diane, of Morganton, Anthony McElrath and his wife, Cynthia, of Kannapolis, NC, and Trench McElrath of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Angela McElrath of Burlington, Sharon McElrath of Greensboro, NC, and Karon McElrath of Greensboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, August 4, 2014 at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Willard Watkins and the Rev. Phyllis Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until noon prior to the service.
