Fred Burton Greene, 82, of Morganton, NC passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. He was born on January 13, 1944 in Mitchell County to the late Paul Joseph Greene and Josephine Buchanan Lecour. Fred was a Veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed working on cars, gardening and planting flowers. He loved his family dearly. Fred was a jack of all trades, enjoyed his work and just “piddling”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Holtsclaw Greene; brother, Paul Greene.
He is survived by his children, Larry Greene (Renee), Kathy Greene Vines (Scott), Gary Greene, Susan Perham (Dominic), and Stacy Lackey (Chris); grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler, B.J., Linda, Paul, Dylan, Zach, Jacob, Travis, Taylor, Stephanie and Nicole; twenty-three great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Pittman.

Larry, Gary, Kathy and Susan, Gene and I are so sorry for your loss. Gene was particularly fond of Burton as he has told me so much about growing up with him, Paul Howard and Linda Lou. He has been sad today and I know he is praying for each of you during this sad time. We love you all.
