Frankie Dunford Bacorn, 84, of Morganton took her last breath here, and drew her first heavenly breath Saturday, February 1, 2014. Mrs. Bacorn was born August 5, 1929 in Garwood, West Virginia to the late Jesse James Dunford and Ada Belle Riggs Rakes. She was a loving mother, wife and grandmother and loved people, singing, reading and was very artistic with her writing and paintings. She adored her husband and was a true servant of her Lord, enjoying every minute of ministry with him.In addition to her parents Mrs. Bacorn was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William S. Bacorn who passed away on June 23, 2007; brothers, John, Nathan, Curtis and Stacy Dunford and sister, Gertrude Walker.Mrs. Bacorn is survived by her sons, Daniel W. McDonnell and his wife, Kathy of Pataskala, OH, Steven A. McDonnell of Sanford, NC, Randall O. McDonnell and his wife, Kay of Boiling Springs Lakes, NC and Jonathan D. McDonnell of Orlando, FL; daughter, Kelli McDonnell McCall and her husband, Gary of Morganton; brother, Clarence Dunford and his wife, Geneva of Zephyrhills, FL; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Morganton Long Term Care for the kind attentiveness shown to "Miss Frankie" during her stay there. Thanks also to Medi Home Hospice for their care for many months and to Burke Hospice for care given in her last few weeks.A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Burkemont Baptist Church with the Rev Eddy Bunton and Dr. David Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Burkemont Baptist Church, 4668 Burkemont Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
