Frances Smith Tallent, 90, of Morganton, NC, gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

Born in Lincoln County, NC on December 11, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Craig Locke Smith and Alda Lee Hull Smith.

Frances was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who dearly loved her family.

Frances had an adventurous soul with a profound love for travel. Her love for the earth was evident in her garden, and she was an avid and talented quilter. However, it was in the kitchen where Frances truly found her joy. Cooking and preparing food for her family was her greatest pleasure.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Ricky Tallent and Vickie T. Curtis (Buren Allen Curtis); grandchildren, Eric Tallent, Lance Tallent (Kayla Tallent), Melissa Curtis (DeeDee Hartley), and Julie Curtis; great-grandchildren, Kendra Austin, Braylon Tallent, Jett Tallent, and Korey Curtis; sister, Judy Lackey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Carl Tallent; and a sister, Betty Joe Hull.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, February 14, 2025 at Brookwood Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at noon in the church with Rev. Earl Cross officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Hospice, (amoremsupport.org/donate).

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
