Flossie Benfield, 83, of Morganton, passed away Wednesday, July 7th, 2021 at Burke Hospice after a period of declining health. Mrs. Benfield was born May 10th, 1938 to the late Ediston Forrest and Fannie Luiza Franklin. She was a member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church and was retired owner of Ned’s Wrecker Service and N&M Trucking, Inc.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ned Walton Benfield; and her brothers and sisters, Coy Franklin, Dora Franklin, Edison Forrest Franklin, Lena Franklin, Wilborn Franklin, Alvin Franklin, Patsy Drummond, and Margie Ross.

Surviving are her daughter, Pam Watts and husband, Denny; son, Mike Benfield and wife, Melissa; grandchildren, Angie, April, Misty, Kolby, and Landon; great-grandchildren; Madison, Aidan, Dalton, Logan, Jack, & Anna; and brother Glenn Franklin

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2021 in the Life Enrichment Center of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Chris Dale and Dr. Darren Browning officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Grace Heights & Amorem, formerly Burke Hospice & Palliative Care.
