Florine Huffman, 82, of Morganton, NC went to her Heavenly Home to be with family on Friday, August 18, 2023. She was born on June 13, 1941 in Burke County to the late Thomas Smith and Bessie Norman Smith. She was a member of Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church. Florine retired from Drexel Heritage. She loved her Lord and family dearly. She also loved going to the beach, cooking, canning food and working in her garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Huffman; sons, Joey Huffman and Robert Huffman; brothers, Murphy Smith and Albert Smith.
Florine is survived by a son, Barney Huffman (Barbara); grandchildren, Tyler Huffman, Jeremy Huffman and Dustin Huffman (Kendell); four great-grandchildren; brothers, Roland Smith, Larry Smith, Bennie Smith and Earl Smith; sisters, Hettie Smith, Josephine Lambert, and Coleen Miller.
The family will receive friends from 3pm-4pm on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church. The funeral will begin at 4pm in the church with Rev. Danny McNeily officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Dustin, Kendell and all the family: Florine was a great lady. We just enjoyed talking and laughing. One year, at church, I was her 'secret pal' and she was mine. We did not know it until it was time for each of us to reveal the name of our 'secret pal'. We had a good laugh about how good we kept our secret! I still have the pretty green pot with the yellow flowers that she (my secret pal) gave me. I will miss her, as I know all of you will. With love and sympathy, Guinn Huffman
