Flavie Stilwell Houston

Flavie Stilwell Houston, 89, of Icard, NC went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 21, 2014. She was born on November 12, 1925 in Burke County, NC to the late John F. Stilwell and Delphia Lail Stilwell. Flavie was retired from Influential Hosiery. She truly enjoyed working with the South Mountain Baptist Association. Flavie loved and had a special bond with her many grandchildren. She was a member of Laurel Haven Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Clyde Houston; a brother, Conley Stilwell; a sister, Agnes Stephens; a daughter, Irdene Stilwell and son-in-laws, Clyde Stilwell and Paul Holtsclaw.
She is survived by two sons, Rev. Ken Houston and wife, Marilyn Kay of Icard and Thomas Houston and wife, Sharon of Rt. 4 Hickory; three daughters, Alease Cline of Icard, Gladys Brittain and husband, Leslie of Connelly Springs and Louise Benfield and husband, Truey of Icard; grandchildren, Sandy Gilliand, Marc and Kenny Houston, Kim and Chad Houston, Paula Sain, Allen Holtsclaw, Lana Ramsey and Ricky Cline; and loved by numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Shoupes Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Lawing officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm.
