Everett Willis Carpenter, 89 of Morganton, NC passed away, Thursday, September 7, 2023. Born on March 9, 1934, he was the son of the late John D. Carpenter and Ivy Willis Carpenter. Everett was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved his church and his church family. Everett was the happiest when he was with his family. He retired from Plant 7 – Drexel Heritage. Everett also honorably served in the US Army and was proud to be a Veteran.

Everett is survived by his wife of 63 years, Charlene Carpenter; children, Mark Carpenter (Tammy), Bruce Carpenter (Sheila), Jane Crisp (Mark); grandchildren, Lindsay, Sarah, Logan, John, Jason, Amber, Jordan; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Stella, Gabby; sisters, Lou Carpenter Causby (Bennett), Betty Jo Carpenter Style; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Everett is preceded in death by his brothers, Reece Carpenter, Hubert Carpenter, JC Carpenter; sisters, Laurene Carpenter Hoyle, Frankie Carswell-Beame, Willie Mae Saulman-Bradshaw, Helen Carpenter Brittain, Clara Carpenter Dale.

The family will receive friends from 4pm until 6pm, Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Sossoman Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at noon, Monday, September 11, 2023 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Buster King officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Charlene. So sorry for the loss of Uncle Everett.. He was my favorite Uncle, one of the sweetest men I have ever met. He will be missed. Please give big hug to Jane.
