Evelyn Law, 81, of Walton Rd., Morganton, NC died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at her residence. Born in Buncombe Co., NC on March 17, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Harry Arthur Owensby and Blanche Murdock Owensby. Evelyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She worked in several local clothing stores including: Hallies, Burand’s, John Graham, Spainhours, and Lazarus.Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Debbie Whetstone and husband, Dave, of Hickory, NC, Ann Law of Durham, NC, and Susan Law of Morganton; grandchildren, Jaime Matheson, Heather Belton, Will Whetstone, Christopher Sellers, Ashley Grzeslo, Dillon Law, Dessie Law, Chandler Law, and Evie Grace Law; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Brittney, and Brianna Matheson, Jordan Morettie, and Laken and Piercen Whetstone; and a special feline companion, Arista.In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Parker Law, and a grandson, Adam Wood Whetstone.A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 6, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Roach officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
