Evelyn Cross Bowen

Evelyn Cross Bowen, 87, of Grace Ridge, Morganton, NC and a former Haddonfield, NJ resident died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Grace Ridge Health Care Center following a brief illness. She was born November 26, 1918 in Camden County, NJ, and was a daughter of the late William Edmund Cross and Eva May Wood Cross. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, J. Hartley Bowen, Jr. Mrs. Bowen was a graduate of Collingswood High School, Collingswood, NJ and completed a two year course of study at Temple University in Philadelphia. She was a lifelong member of Haddonfield United Methodist Church and had lived her entire life in Camden County, NJ until moving to Grace Ridge in July, 1999.

Surviving are a son, Dr. J. Hartley Bowen, III and his wife, Dorothy of Morganton; a granddaughter, Michelle C. Bowen of Washington, DC; and a grandson, J. Hartley Bowen, IV of Seattle, WA.

A private graveside service will be held at Harleigh Cemetery, Camden, NJ. A memorial service will be held at Grace Ridge at a later date.
