Eugene “Gene” Whisnant, 89, of Morganton, NC died Wednesday, November 30, 2016. He was born in Burke County on January 8, 1927 to the late Charles Pinkney Whisnant and Mary Frances Scott Whisnant. He spent his career in food service management. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Gibbs Whisnant; brothers, Ben S., Harry and Arnold Whisnant; sisters, Charlie Mae and Grace Whisnant.
He is survived by his son, Stephen Whisnant and wife, Elizabeth of Washington, DC; daughters, Patrice Whisnant of Morganton, NC and Barbara Lentz and husband, Larry of Eden, NC; grandchildren, Jason Michaels, Chase Michaels, Kimberly Lentz, and Kelly Horsley; great-grandchildren, Spencer Michaels, Max Whisnant, Ella Grace Michaels, Connor Michaels, Kennedy Horsley, and Kylee Horsley; sister-in-law, Katherine Whisnant.
