Ethel Morris Flowers, 89, of Glen Alpine, NC left this life to reside in her new home, Heaven, on Sunday, November 14, 2010. Born in McDowell County, NC on November 1, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Marion Maxwell Morris and Bertha Mayhue Pritchard Morris. Ethel was a member of Glenwood Independent Baptist Church in Marion, NC.She is survived by her daughters, Doris Lowery of Marion and Linda Schachtschneider and husband, Steve, of Morganton, NC; grandchildren, Russell Lowery and wife, Casey of Marion, Jessica Madel of Marion, Tammy "Bo" Hilliard and husband, Bill, of Raleigh, NC, and Michael Baldwin and fiancée, Anita, of Saw Mills, NC; a brother, Earl Morris of Morganton; sisters, Edith White of Morganton, Gladys Brewer of Roanoke, VA, and Frances West of Roanoke; great-grandchildren, Dylan Hilliard, Logan Hilliard, Baylon Lowery, and Kaylie Lowery; step-grandchildren, Stephen, Trisha, Tammy, Lisa, and Jamie; step-great-grandchildren, Monica, Ali, Trey, Tate, and Tyler; a number of nephews and nieces; and special friends, Mildred Perkins and Jennifer Holden.In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, David Levi Flowers, and siblings, Esther Green, Edmond Morris, and Frank Morris.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
