Ernestine Elliott Moody, 88, of Morganton passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Born in McDowell County, NC on July 31, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Ernest O’Conner Elliott and Cora Augusta Gouge Elliott.
Ernestine is survived by her sons, Claude Burley Moody, Jr. of Drexel, NC and Ernest O’Conner Moody and wife, Kay, of Morganton; a daughter, Patricia Moody Smith of Morganton; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Burley Moody, Sr.; a daughter, Brenda Moody Biggerstaff; a grandson, Benjamin Joel Moody; great-grandchildren, Jake O’Conner Moody and Kayla Elizabeth Smith; a son-in-law, Paul David Smith; brothers, Hoytt, Hoyle Dean, Franklin, and Howard Elliott; and sisters, Gladys Silvers, Regina Clay, and Macie Mayer.
The graveside service will be held at 11 am, Monday, March 20, 2017 at Burke Memorial Park with the Rev. Brian Smith and Dr. Steve Parker officiating. The family will greet friends on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at El Bethel Baptist Church.
