Emil Leroy Pollygus, 83, of Morganton, NC went to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, June 20,2023.

He was born on September 4, 1939 in Avery County to the late Alex B. Pollygus and Dimple Meredith Pollygus. Mr. Pollygus served in the US Army and was a member of the Cranberry Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, golf, watching old westerns, and was a simple man who liked to joke around. Emil really loved his family, especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his children, Mark Pollygus (Susan), Tammy Pollygus, and Robin Orr (Rob); grandchildren, Chelsea Fisher (Chris), Seth Orr, and Beth Morgan (C.D.); great-grandchildren, Spencer, Graedon, and Avery; and a sister, Betty Lou.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Pollygus was preceded by his wife of 63 years, Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Ramsey Pollygus; brother, Chub Pollygus; and sister, Ruth Meredith Wooten.

There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m., Friday, June 23, 2023 at Burke Memorial Park with military honors will be provided by the NC National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Tammy, I’m so sorry to be reading this. Chuck & I had so many good times with Emil & Lib. We played a lot of golf across the street from the family place in Newland, NC. My prayer is they are all together in heaven. Chuck really thought a lot about his Uncle. My heart goes out to you and the family ❤️🙏🏻😘
