Elsie McCurry Setzer

Elsie McCurry Setzer, 87, died Monday, February 15, 2010 following a period of declining health. Mrs. Setzer was born in Rutherford County on July 14, 1922 and was a daughter of the late Simeon McCurry and Ethel McCurry McCurry. She was a member of Hartland Baptist Church and was a wonderful cook who enjoyed sharing with others.Surviving are her husband, Roy Eli Setzer, of the home; her son, Norris McCurry and his wife, Brenda, of Morganton; sisters, Katie Neely and Frances Bridges both of Morganton, and Morene Hall of Taylorsville; a brother, Oscar McCurry, of Drexel; grandchildren, Adam McCurry and Patrick McCurry; and a great-grandchild, Sallie McCurry, all of Morganton.In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by a brother, Mack McCurry, and by a sister, Geneva Costner.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Hartland Baptist Church with the Reverend Matthew A. Grindstaff officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive one hour before the service at the church.
