Ella Mae Curtis, 76, died peacefully at home on Friday, May 11, 2018 while surrounded by her family.  Born in Avery County, NC on September 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Duard Clark and Hazel Gragg Clark.  Ella Mae was a member of the Rising Church and retired from Doblin Fabrics after 30 years of service.

She loved to cook and prepare a feast for her family every Sunday.  She also enjoyed travelling; she saw many places both inside and outside of the United States.  She loved her Lord, Jesus, and encouraged her family’s faith in him.

A loving mother and grandmother, Ella Mae is survived by her sons, Ronnie (Frances) Curtis and Jeff (Jennie) Curtis of Morganton; daughter, Glenda (Jeff) Carpenter of Forest City, NC; grandchildren, Rena Thrall, Kristina Hoyle, Kimberly Curtis, Neil Curtis, Aaron Carpenter, Adam Carpenter, and Brett Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Acton, Katherine Hoyle, Gaven Sweeney, and Landon Martin; and her niece and best friend, Patsy James of Hickory.

In addition to her parents, Ella Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn Curtis; daughter, Kathy Seagle; grandson, Wesley Sweeney; 2 brothers; and a sister.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Rising Church.  The funeral will follow at 3 p.m.in the church with Bishop Barry Camp and Rev. Jeff Carpenter officiating.  Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.

It's been 5 1/2 years & I still miss you so much. I have so many memories, from my earliest memory to the many trips you went with me in the truck. There was "no one" like you; yet, you didn't know how special you were. Gosh ..I miss you. 😪
