Elizabeth Poe Henderson Welborn died Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at St. Francis Hospital, Greenville, SC.
Born September 19, 1940 in Greenville, S.C., she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Henderson and his wife Nancy Elisabeth Poe. Beth was married almost 60 years to the late William Jackson Welborn Jr. She attended Randolph Macon College in Virginia. Beth took great joy in her family, gardening, hosting a women's Bible study, and in serving her church, Covenant Presbyterian, for over 40 years.
Her family includes: sons, Jack Welborn III (Lesa) and Graham Welborn (Cheryl); daughter, Elizabeth Gould (Michael); Grandchildren: Alison White (Jason), Katie Hagan (Will), Jessica Welborn, Arrington Watson (Ben), Christopher Mura, Gray Welborn, Jackson Welborn, Benjamin Gould (Katya), Nicholas Gould, and Anna Beth Gould; Great-grandchildren: Wilkins, Rollins, Kip, and Jase White; Wells and Page Watson, Ava Hagan, and Theo Gould.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, and second son, Thomas Wilkins Welborn; and sister, Jan Henderson Reeves.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4500 Highway 86 Easley, SC 29642. The family will greet friends following in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mercy Fund at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4500 Highway 86 Easley, SC 29642 or Calvary Home for Children, 110 Calvary Home Circle, Anderson, SC 29621.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
