Elizabeth Mahaffee Kanupp, 79, of Camelot Manner on Sunset Road, Granite Falls, NC, died Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born in Rutherford County, NC on August 15, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Charles Berry Mahaffee, Sr. and Ethel B. Hutchins Mahaffee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilbur F. Peyronel, Sr.; her second husband, Homer Leroy Kanupp; and brothers, C. B. Mahaffee, Jr. and Dewey Mahaffee. Elizabeth was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Valdese, NC and was retired from Alba-Waldensian after 30 years.
She is survived by her son, Wilbur Fred Peyronel, Jr.; her daughter, Margaret E. Peyronel; and brother, Joseph Mahaffee, all of Valdese; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2005 in Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Andrew Brown officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home.
