Elizabeth “Betty” Crowther Stuart, 85, of Morganton, NC passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at her home. Betty was born on September 26, 1932 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Samuel Frank Crowther and Gertrude Hillis Crowther.
Betty was an Exceptional Children’s teacher at Oak Hill and Glen Alpine Elementary Schools from 1970 to 1997, having received Teacher of the Year at Oak Hill during that time. She was an avid outdoors woman, traveler, and reader for much of her life. Above all, she was a kind and loving mother, wife, and friend.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ralph Stuart. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Stryhas and husband, Bart and her son, David Benner and his wife, Pat.
The family will have a private memorial at a later date.
