Eliza V. Milligan, 98, of Morganton passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 after a period of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC on October 19, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Charley Yount and Ella Sheppard Yount. Eliza was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, making dolls, gardening, and cake decorating. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed taking care of her shut-in friends.
Eliza is survived by her son, Jackson “J. P.” Milligan (Lillie) of Conover and Effie Hefner of Charlotte; 3 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Eliza was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Milligan; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home granddaughter, Alva Yandle, officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
