Edward "Eddie" Grayson Baker

Edward "Eddie" Grayson Baker, 79, of the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center (JIRDC), Enola Road, Morganton, NC departed this life on Thursday, April 23, 2009 and is now in the care of our Heavenly Father. Eddie was born on April 8, 1930 in Guilford County, NC to the late Arthur Edward Baker and Lillie Mae Whitener Baker.He was a resident of the JIRDC since it opened in December of 1963.He is survived by a brother, Howard Baker and wife, Arlene, of Valdese, NC; a nephew, Richard Baker; nieces, Alice Baker and Joy Baker Cook; and all the wonderful care-givers and volunteers of JIRDC who loved and cared for him.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Covenant Center at the JIRDC with Chaplain Johnny Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center, c/o Evergreen Home, 300 Enola Road, Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
