Edna Rudecil Williams, 98, of Drexel passed away Monday, September 3, 2018. Born in Burke County, NC on October 29, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John L. Rudecil and Bonnie Mae Mull Rudecil. Edna was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher, member of the choir, greeter, and the oldest member of Jerry Pearson’s Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Williams was a cosmetologist and had worked in the beauty salon at Broughton Hospital and Boncilla Beauty Salon. She owned and operated Edna’s Salon for over 40 years, retiring at the age of 85. She served as a board member with the North Carolina Cosmetology Association.
Edna is survived by her sons, Micky Williams (Sybil) of Marion and John R. Williams (Carolyn) of Valdese; grandchildren, Michelle Loesekann of Morganton, Mike L. Williams (Kim) of Valdese, Angela Simmons (Jeff) of Valdese, and Robbie Williams (Aleisha) of Valdese; great-grandchildren, Michael L. Williams, III (Katherine), Ashley Williams, Josh Williams, Zachary Loesekann (Kasey), Britt Simmons, Emily Simmons, Marissa Williams, and Peyton Harrison; step-granddaughter, Tanya Raulerson (Paul) of Charlotte; step-great-grandchildren, Jessica and P.J. Raulerson; special God-child, Aloma McNeely; special friends, Candace and Jeffery Dietz of Raleigh; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends and loved ones.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Rufus Y. Williams; sisters, Ruth Rudecil Wise, Helen Scarborough, and Neta Rudecil; and brothers, Bill L. Rudecil and Clarence Rudecil.
The family will receive friends from to 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Mt. Home Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. in the church with the Revs. Jerry Gamble and David Orders officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Home Baptist Church, 2272 Mt. Home Church Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
