Edgar Carswell, Jr., 66, of Morganton, NC, took his heavenly flight on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

Born in Cleveland County, NC on August 26, 1957, he was the son of the late Edgar Carswell, Sr. and Evelyn Jordan Carswell. Edgar was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and worked for Wilkie Construction for 37 years as a mechanic. He was very talented and could fix or build anything. Mr. Carswell enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.

A devoted family man, Edgar is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Wilma Patton Carswell; children, Doug Taylor (Becky), Dustin Taylor (Crystle), and Kimberly Carswell Eckard (Eric); grandchildren, Justin Taylor, Lindsi Taylor, Adalyn Taylor, Madison Eckard, Greylon Eckard, Emery Taylor, and Patton Taylor; sister, Debra Workman (Ray); brother, Larry Carswell (Jody); numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; and his fur-babies, Ladybug, Elsa, and Lucy.

In addition to his parents, Edgar was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Joe Ingle.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Michael Gantt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Building Fund, 5388 Mt. Olive Church Road, Morganton, NC 28655.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
