Earlene Woody

Earlene Woody, 83, of Morganton, NC, went to be with her Heavenly Father, her husband, and her beloved dog, Buddy, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Born on December 28, 1942, in Spruce Pine, NC, she was the daughter of Earl and May Davis Braswell.

With a great amount of strength, humor, and a little bit of sass, she was the best wife, mother, sister, and Granny to those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She loved supporting her grandchildren, always attending every school activity and sporting event alongside her late husband to cheer them on. She cared for her grandchildren every day, often alongside their friends, who spent summers at her house making crazy crafts, dressing up, and playing “cookie shop.” She taught us how to work hard, love deeply, and be a little silly sometimes. We love you more and more, Granny!

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Annette Nelson (Joe) and Steve Woody; her grandchildren, Steve Woody II, Jennifer Nelson, and Cody Nelson; and her sisters, Barbara Grindstaff and Brenda Blevins.

In addition to her parents, Earlene was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ivan Woody, and her siblings, Larry Braswell and Carol Hopping.

The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Kelly Benson officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
