E. Nelson Causby

E. Nelson Causby, 75, of Morganton, NC passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017.  Born on August 26, 1941, he was the son of the late Forest Braxton Causby and Effie Wise Causby.  Nelson was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was a member and previous teacher of the Heilhecker Sunday school class.  Mr. Causby was a graduate of Morganton High School, Mars Hill College, and UNC Chapel Hill.  He enjoyed his work in the furniture industry.  He owned and operated Causby Wholesale Furniture.  Nelson enjoyed reading and studying the bible and had an avid interest in ancestry.

The family of Mr. Causby would like to thank the staff of Autumn Care of Drexel who took excellent care of Nelson.

Mr. Causby is survived by his wife, Margaret Smith Causby of the home; children, Nelsonya Causby Morehead and husband, Jack, of California, Kathryn Causby Labsili and husband, Simo, of Raleigh, NC, John York and wife, Kathy, of Arden, NC, Beth York of Morganton, and Sandi York of Morganton; grandchildren, Avery Morehead, Brooke Morehead, Bilal Labsili, Lila Labsili, Rob Warren, Elizabeth York, Harrison York, Kayla Adams, Mack Isenhower, Chris Edwards, and Jessica Edwards Banner; great-grandchildren, Ethan Cox and Mason Banner; nephews, David Causby and wife, Becca, and Robert Causby; many great-nieces and nephews; and his good buddy at Autumn Care, Ben Perrou.

In addition to his parents, Nelson was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Causby.

A celebration of Nelson’s life will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at First United Methodist Church of Morganton with the Rev. Dr. John Fowler and the Rev. Charlotte Brendel officiating.  The family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
